Spanning almost eight years of engagements from 1775-1783, the Revolutionary War saw citizen-soldiers rise up to secure independence from British rule.
From the battles of Lexington and Concord in April of 1775 to the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783, more than 230,000 American Patriots had served in the Continental Army with an estimated 6,800 paying the ultimate price in their fight for freedom.
